Annerley rent

What new Annerley tenancies were signed at last quarter

You want to know what Annerley rents for before you decide anything. Here are the RTA’s median weekly rents for new tenancies in Annerley, for the homes with enough new leases to rely on.

Type and bedrooms Median weekly rent Quarter
All homes $540 September 2026
Unit, 1 bedroom $450 September 2026
Unit, 2 bedrooms $580 September 2026
House, 3 bedrooms $800 September 2026
Townhouse, 3 bedrooms $875 September 2026

The house and townhouse figures rest on 21 and 15 new tenancies, so read them as a guide. Four-bedroom houses are left out: their median has swung too far between quarters to rely on. The RTA gives no median for its ‘other’ group, but those bonds are counted in the ‘All homes’ figure.

Living in Annerley

Annerley's post office was called Boggo until 1892

Annerley’s post office was called Boggo until November 1892, when it was renamed after a place in Surrey, England, a name it is believed Digby Denham proposed. It was dairy farms before it was houses, and electric trams ran along Ipswich Road until 13 April 1969. Its heritage includes Mary Immaculate Church, built in 1932, Annerley Library, from 1957 and on the Brisbane Heritage Register, the Hefferan Park Air Raid Shelter and the Ipswich Road fig tree.

Annerley Junction is where Ipswich Road meets Annerley Road, once called Boggo Road, and its traders’ association runs Junction Fest on the second Saturday of October and a Christmas Fair. Annerley Arcade, Annerley Square and a Woolworths are mapped in the suburb, and so are Hefferan Park, Ekibin Park and Lagonda Park. Many of its Queenslanders have been restored.

Worth knowing

Four things an Annerley owner can look up

  • Flood information: Brisbane City Council’s Flood Awareness Map gives general flood awareness information for an address, and its FloodWise Property Report is the technical report for building and planning.
  • Low-rise units: 2,990 of Annerley’s 5,078 homes are units or townhouses, and almost all the units are in blocks of three storeys or fewer.
  • Cross River Rail: its Woolloongabba station is being built in the suburb next door, and the Queensland Government expects the first Cross River Rail passenger services in 2029.
  • Annerley Road: Brisbane City Council has investigated active travel on Annerley Road, from Peter Doherty Street to Ipswich Road. Feedback closed on 28 September 2025, and further work depends on future funding.
