Logan property management

If you own a house in Marsden QLD, you are renting in a suburb of big households: the average home holds 3.3 people, and more than a quarter of residents are under 15. Marsden is a City of Logan suburb about 4 km south of Logan Central and 24 km south of central Brisbane, and most of it is housing estates. This guide covers what Marsden rents for, what it is like to live in, and how we would manage your property here.

What Marsden QLD rents for

What new Marsden tenancies were signed at last quarter

You want to know what Marsden rents for before you decide anything. Here are the RTA’s median weekly rents for new tenancies in Marsden, for the homes with enough new leases to rely on.

Type and bedrooms Median weekly rent Quarter
All homes $600 September 2026

Living in Marsden

Marsden took its name in 1976, from a pioneer family

Marsden was part of Kingston, as the Kingston Park Estate, until 1 May 1976, when the council began using the name Marsden, after Violet Marsden of a pioneer family. Until 1980 it was split between the Albert and Beaudesert Shires. Marsden State School opened in 1978, Marsden Industrial Estate in the suburb’s south-west in 1981, and Burrowes State School in 1987.

Marsden Park Shopping Centre opened in 1985 and was renovated and expanded in 2006, and Focal Point and Macarthy Fair are smaller centres in the suburb. The council’s library on Chambers Flat Road opened in 2006. The Berrinba Wetlands are inside Marsden, Scrubby Creek runs through it with a park along its banks, and J J Smith Park and Marsden Park are here too.

Schools

Both of Marsden's state primary schools are inside the suburb

State primary schools: Marsden is split between the Burrowes State School and Marsden State School catchments, and both schools are in the suburb.

State secondary schools: most of Marsden is in the Marsden State High School catchment for Years 7 to 12, and the rest is in the Woodridge State High School catchment. Marsden State High School is in neighbouring Waterford West.

Non-state schools: none are inside Marsden. Nearby: Groves Christian College in Kingston, Arethusa College in Berrinba (Years 7 to 12), St Francis College in Crestmead (Catholic, Prep to Year 12) and the Australian International Islamic College in Logan Reserve (Prep to Year 10).

Catchments change, and the boundary follows streets, not suburbs. Check any address on the Queensland Government’s school catchment map before you rely on it.

Getting around

The nearest are Kingston, about 2.7 km from the middle of the suburb in a straight line, Loganlea, about 3.9 km, and Woodridge, about 4.1 km, all on the Beenleigh line. The Logan Motorway runs roughly along Marsden’s northern boundary. Translink’s journey planner shows the current buses for any address. By road and without traffic, Logan Central is about 10 minutes away (6.4 km), Logan Hospital about 11 minutes (7.2 km), Brisbane’s CBD about 30 minutes (31.0 km) and Brisbane Airport about 38 minutes (41.0 km).

Worth knowing

Four things a Marsden owner can look up

  • Flood maps: Logan City Council’s flood maps page links the Logan Flood Portal and a Property Flood Report for any Marsden address. The council has sent changes to its flood overlay maps to the State, and expects them in early 2027 if approved.
  • Townhouses: 843 of Marsden’s 4,134 homes are townhouses, and 606 of those have two storeys or more.
  • Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail: station designs from Kuraby to Kingston, the nearest station to Marsden, went to the community in November and December 2025.
  • The draft Logan Plan: Logan City Council’s draft planning scheme has not been adopted, and the council says submissions are still being reviewed.
