Gold Coast property management

If you own a house or a townhouse in Nerang, you own the kind of home most of its renters live in. Nerang is a town on the Nerang River, 11.9 km by road from Southport, with its own station on the Gold Coast line and the Pacific Motorway beside it. This guide covers what Nerang rents for, what it is like to live in and how we would manage your property here, with neighbouring Gilston and Advancetown.

Your property in Nerang

Nerang's renters live in houses and townhouses alike

Six in ten of Nerang’s homes are separate houses, and three in four of its townhouses are two storeys or more. A house or a two-storey townhouse is a lot to keep track of when you may not see it from one tenancy to the next. Routine inspections every 14 to 17 weeks, with a detailed report and quality photos sent to you, so you know your property’s condition. Your own owner portal, showing your statements, bills, inspection reports and repair jobs at any time.

The end of a fixed term is the time to check where your rent sits. Rent reviewed 90 days before a fixed-term tenancy ends. Grant Drennan, our founder and Director, is an investor himself and the constant behind every property we manage. Start with a free Investor Portfolio Review: a look at your whole portfolio, not just the one property. Rental appraisals are free, with no obligation.

Living in Nerang

Nerang began as a river town, surveyed in 1865

Nerang takes its name from the river it sits on. Martin Lavelle surveyed the town in June 1865, the South Coast railway reached it in 1887 and closed in 1964, and the Pacific Motorway bypassed the town centre in 1979. Nerang was re-designated a suburb in 2003. Three places in Bischof Pioneer Park on Nerang Street, the Maid of Sker, Ceramic House and Preece House, are on the Gold Coast Local Heritage Register, and so are Nerang Hall and the Old Nerang Gaol.

Nearly half of Nerang’s land is zoned for conservation in the council’s City Plan, and Nerang National Park is inside the suburb. Nerang Aquatic Centre and Nerang Sports Centre are here too. For shopping there is Nerang Mall, My Centre Nerang, Nerang Village and Earle Plaza.

Nerang has had its own station on the Gold Coast line since 1997

Nerang station opened on 16 December 1997, when the line was extended from Helensvale, and it was the end of the line until the extension to Robina in 1998. Kinetic Gold Coast runs buses from the station; see TransLink for routes. The Pacific Motorway (M1) runs beside the suburb. By road and without traffic from Nerang station, Surfers Paradise is about 15 minutes away (10.8 km), Gold Coast Airport about 26 minutes (30.0 km) and Brisbane’s CBD about 53 minutes (70.5 km).

Worth knowing

Four things a Nerang owner can look up

  • Flood levels: the City of Gold Coast’s Flood level search gives the designated flood level for a property. The council notes it covers riverine flooding only, not local flash flooding.
  • Bushfire potential area map: the council’s Bushfire hazards page has the map. The council says the map must not be used for insurance, planning or development purposes.
  • Hinterland Nerang: the council has sought a development partner for a 7.9 hectare site of its civic land in Nerang. Expressions of interest closed on 2 October 2026, with no partner named.
  • The new planning scheme: on 10 March 2026 the council endorsed nine directions for growth, and residents are to be able to make formal submissions in 2027.
